"Free your mind and the rest will follow". We all know these lyrics and no matter in what context you read this text, it just makes so much sense.Free your mind from things that don't serve you. See it as decluttering your mind from all the things that you don't need in this present moment. Things and thoughts that don't benefit you.Sometimes you feel like there is a heavy burden resting on you and you can't quiet understand what this feeling all of a sudden comes from. When you start diving deeper into your thoughts and give yourself a few honest moments to really listen to what is there, you often realise that your mind feels 'full'. Full of thoughts of things that are no longer there or thoughts about events that have happened. Often it is just like your mind is playing a record, which seems to be stuck in the same track and playing that one over and over again. You feel that there is no space for a different perspective on things, or that there is simply no space for releasing tension and letting go.I find myself there often and if I don't listen carefully to that voice within, which I think is my intuition speaking or my conscious self, I end up falling for this same trap as well.
What I find helpful when I am in a situation like that, is to break or slightly tweak my routines, or to do something unexpected or fearless. Not that I am not scared or fearing anything at that moment, but it is just about following your instinct and trying to act from a deeper force within, instead of acting or reacting according all the conditions that have been created around you. By yourself, or by the people around you. It can be a very refreshing experience if you try breaking your habits and it can really open your mind again for new things.
Breaking a routine is simply getting rid of a habit you have created yourself, something you keep doing over and over again without really thinking about it. It can be many different things. Maybe a change of routine for you will be just changing your side of the bed you are sleeping in. Or maybe it will be the things you do in the evening. You might often find yourself flicking through the channels on tv and ending up watching a show you don't even really like, but just trying to give yourself the comfort of watching tv as a relaxing moment to end your busy day. Well, let that relaxing moment be something completely different for one or even for a few nights a week.Instead you could make yourself a cup of tea. Create a comfortable seat, whether it will be at the couch or on a few cushions on the floor. Close you eyes for a few moments and enjoy a few sips of your tea. Do you notice that you can even taste your tea now? As you are resting your mind, you are starting to open up all your senses. It will feel as if your mind has 'space' again to travel. As if your thoughts have space again to think beyond the expected. And the great thing about it, is that it is just as simple as that. All you've got to do, is to allow yourself some time to consciously create a moment just for yourself. A moment to re-connect again and it will free your mind.
