GINGER: THE ROOT OF ALL ROOTS!

Ginger is one of my favourite ingredients. It is just one of those magical plants, bringing a lot of goodness to us.

Ginger is a member of the same plant family as turmeric and cardamom and was originally growing in the tropicial rainforest at the Inidan subcontinent. Ginger was exported to Europe as a part of the world spice trade in the first century after AD. And how gratefull we should be all to have ginger available for us now as well.

Ginger is known to help reduce fever and for its cleansing effects. It also lowers the cholesterol and helps when coping with heavy headaches of migraine. Ginger also helps with nausea, morning sickness, cramps and sea sickness.
And besides all of these great benefits, ginger is mostly known for its detoxifying effect. And for all these great medicinal effects from this root, I would call ginger, the root of all roots!

Would you like to make a heart warming and detoxing cup of fresh ginger tea yourself? Try this recipe below. It is extremely comforting when suffering from stomach ache or just when you need a bit of comforting warmth.
This tea is also really good to drink before your meal or even as a first drink in the morning before your breakfast, to get your digestion started.

1) Get yourself a piece of fresh ginger from your local vegetable shop, or ,these days also available at most supermarkets.
2) Slice the ginger in thin slices, about 1 cm thick, with the skin still on
3) Boil it with some water for 5-10 minutes or ad dit simply to your cup of boiled water and leave it there to rest for 10 minutes
4) If you want you can sift the tea, so you avoid getting the big chunks in your tea
Optional would be add a slice of lemon as well, to enhance the detoxifying effect of the hot drink.
